Honey For Your Heart Podcast
There are seasons that don’t feel dramatic…
Not everything feels like it’s falling apart.
But it also doesn’t feel like anything is moving forward.
You’re showing up.
You’re doing what you know to do.
You’re being faithful in the small things.
And still—
it feels quiet. Slow. Unseen.
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering:
“Shouldn’t I be further by now?”
“Is God doing anything?”
“Am I missing something?”
This message is for you.
Because what you’re experiencing might not be stagnation.
It might be formation.
Why God Designed Daily Mercy
Scripture tells us that His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22–23).
Not new every crisis.
Not new every breakthrough.
Every morning.
That means mercy isn’t just something God offers when everything falls apart.
It’s something He builds into your everyday life.
When God provided manna for the Israelites in the wilderness, He didn’t give them everything they would need for the journey all at once.
He gave them enough for the day.
And when they tried to hold onto it?
It spoiled.
Because the point wasn’t just provision.
It was dependence.
It was rhythm.
Daily returning.
Daily receiving.
Daily trusting.
And that same rhythm still matters today.
Repetition Is Not Stagnation — It’s Structure
We often believe growth happens in big, emotional moments.
But more often than not…
Growth happens in repetition.
In opening your Bible when it feels ordinary.
In praying when you don’t feel emotional.
In surrendering the same fear again and again.
There’s a concept in the body called myelin—a sheath that forms around neural pathways the more they are used.
The more repetition, the stronger the pathway.
Spiritually, it works the same way.
What you return to consistently is what strengthens you.
Repetition isn’t proof that nothing is happening.
It’s proof that something is being built.
Quietly. Steadily. Structurally.
The Subtle Pull of Control
There’s something that quietly competes with this rhythm of daily mercy:
Control.
Control feels responsible.
It feels wise.
It feels safe.
But underneath it is often anxiety—
trying to create certainty in places where trust is required.
Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 3:5–6 to trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding.
Leaning implies weight.
So the question becomes:
Where are you placing your weight?
On your ability to manage everything?
On outcomes you’re trying to control?
On timelines you’re trying to force?
Or on the Lord?
Because control will always ask you to hold everything together.
But trust allows you to release what was never yours to carry.
You Are Not Holding Yourself Together
One of the most grounding truths in Scripture is found in Colossians 1:17:
“In Him all things hold together.”
Not might hold.
Not eventually will hold.
Hold.
Right now.
Even when your life feels uncertain.
Even when your circumstances feel fragile.
Even when your emotions don’t feel steady.
You are not holding yourself together.
God is.
The Invisible Work That Sustains You
There’s something in the body called laminin—a protein that acts like an anchor, holding cells together and maintaining structure.
You don’t see it.
You don’t think about it.
But without it, things fall apart.
Spiritually, there are “laminin moments” in your life too:
- Opening Scripture when it feels quiet
- Praying when there are no big emotions
- Choosing obedience in small, unseen ways
- Returning to truth again and again
They don’t look dramatic.
But they are doing essential work.
They are holding you together in ways you may not even realize.
What Staying Under Mercy Looks Like Practically
This isn’t about overhauling your life.
It’s about anchoring it.
Here are a few simple ways to begin:
1. Choose One Daily Anchor
Not five. Just one.
A Psalm before coffee.
A prayer before checking your phone.
A moment of surrender before bed.
Let repetition build strength.
2. Release One Area of Control Each Day
Name it.
“I release this outcome.”
“I release this timeline.”
“I release this fear.”
And then do it again tomorrow.
3. Invite Someone Into Your Season
You were never meant to do this alone.
Text a friend.
Ask for prayer.
Let someone see what’s been unseen.
4. Watch for Subtle Shifts
Growth doesn’t always look like transformation overnight.
Sometimes it looks like:
- Less panic
- Softer responses
- Quicker return to truth
- More peace in uncertainty
That’s mercy at work.
If You Feel Stuck, Read This Again
You don’t need a dramatic breakthrough.
You need a rhythm.
You don’t need to hold everything together.
You need to remember that you are already being held.
And the small, quiet, consistent ways you return to God?
They are not insignificant.
They are forming something deeper than you can see.
Reflection Questions
- Where have I mistaken repetition for stagnation?
- What small rhythm can I commit to this week?
- Where am I gripping instead of being held?
- Do I truly believe that in Him all things hold together — even me?
