“Waiting Isn’t Wasted”

Waiting

There are seasons of life that feel like movement.

And then there are seasons that feel like waiting.

Waiting for answers.
Waiting for healing.
Waiting for clarity.
Waiting for something—anything—to shift.

Waiting can feel like suspended time. Like life has paused while your heart is still trying to move forward.

If you have ever found yourself in a season like that, you know how difficult it can be.

In this week’s episode of Honey For Your Heart, I’m sharing reflections from one of the most profound waiting seasons of my life — the long, quiet days during my sister Beth’s time in hospice.

During that season, waiting became our rhythm.

Every hour we gave medication.
Every hour the alarm would go off again.

It felt like time was both standing still and rushing by all at once.

And in those long stretches of waiting, the Lord began to gently teach me something I didn’t fully understand at the time:

Waiting isn’t empty time.

There is sacred work happening in the minutes and hours we think nothing is changing.

Waiting reveals our hearts.
It exposes the places where we reach for control instead of trust.
And it slowly forms something deeper in us—perseverance, surrender, and dependence on God.

If you are in a season where the answers haven’t come yet…
where the story still feels unfinished…
this episode is for you.

Because one of the most important truths I learned in that season is this:

The labor of waiting is never wasted when the Lord is the one we are waiting for.

God is not absent.
He is not careless.
He is doing deeper work than we can see.
